External freezing of boiler condensate (drain) pipes in the Winter months causes the boiler to stop working.
The Condensate Bypass Valve has been designed to signal a frozen external pipe via a red float which indicates a blockage. The built-in tap then allows the condensate to be drained off in a controlled way via a hose supplied.
This ensures that the heating system continues to work even though the condensate pipe is blocked with ice and therefore keeps the house warm without the need for an emergency call-out.
The best time to fit this safety device is at the next boiler service and before the cold weather sets in.
